From Gadgets to Green: A Guide to Sustainable Innovations + An Exciting Survey for Innovators.
Eco-Friendly ☘️🌵Tech 💻
Hello 👋 there, innovator!
You, yes you!
It feels so good to be back in your inbox! A team member used the word “Homesickness” to describe what we developed over time.
And that right there was our diagnosis! That feeling of anxiety caused by separation from people and places you know and love. You've been home to us for the past 8 months and we know it's mutual.
I'll tell you what this is. It's therapy. That's right! “THERAPY”. Ain't no way you are seeing a therapist after this. No way!
In case you forgot how we roll, it's time for that joke 😂 that cracks you up the entire day.
Let's rock and roll!
Since every sector is going full-blown 'sustainable', eyebrows have been raised towards the tech sector thanks to SDG 13 by the United Nations.
Although some climate activists have been called out for their hypocrisy (huge hypocrisy at times)….
Reference below 👇
… We could still play our parts towards a greener future. Innit?
When the climate activists say that the tech industry has done so much damage over the years, we say that it is better late than never.
However, how do we go green with our gadgets? Do we donate our gadgets to the waste to fertilizer conversion companies to be pounded 🥣 till they are dusty enough to be green?
Certainly not! Well, you can if you don't get the drill, but if you do donate your gadgets, remember it was just a joke 😂, and the joke would be on you.
So without further ado. Here's our guide to sustainable innovation.
What is Sustainable Tech?
Sustainable tech, also known as green tech or eco-tech, refers to technology and innovations that are designed, developed, and utilized with a focus on minimizing their environmental impact and promoting sustainability.
That's it!
While some climate activists offer solutions such as living in the forest to minimize our waste produce which is ridiculous, we could all agree to go green in some aspects.
We can agree to minimize our impact on the environment.
Sustainable technology is an umbrella term that describes innovation that considers natural resources and fosters economic and social development. The goal of these technologies is to drastically reduce environmental and ecological risks and to create a sustainable product.
What Can You Do About It Today?…
We think transportation in Lagos needs better payment options and we need your help to understand the challenges faced with payment in the transportation sector of Lagos.
Payment systems for transportation, such as contactless cards, mobile wallets, and digital apps, play a pivotal role in reducing paper cash usage and fostering a more sustainable way of life. This shift towards cashless transactions not only reduces the environmental impact associated with paper production and transportation but also minimizes the need for resource-intensive coin minting.
We are looking for 1000 Lagosians, to take this survey to help our ongoing conversations with stakeholders in Government and private sector.
Take the survey here:

Sustainability in technology can be defined in a few ways:
Substitution. The technology fosters a shift from non-biodegradable to biodegradable materials in its production. It also replaces non-renewable with renewable resources.
Prevention. Sustainable technology prevents deterioration, contamination, and other negative environmental impacts through its use or production.
Efficiency. The technology is efficient in terms of its use of energy and resources.
Our use of the environment could also be termed explorative that is if our generation of power 💪 from the sun doesn't count.
…but what if it does?
Innovator of The Week
Julius Osilamah
Julius Osilamah is the Co-founder of Intensify Africa 🌍.
Internsify Africa was established to bridge the gap between education and workplace experience to reduce the unemployment rate in Africa. They provide practical virtual and physical internships to students In Africa.
Internsify was born out of Julius' painful personal experience, therefore he never wants any fresh graduate to experience what he went through.
In Nigeria, 600,000 students graduate each year from higher learning institutions, and 80 million unemployed youth are without internships and marketable skills. Intensify provides solutions through internship programs by offering Africans and the world technical skills to become employable.
It's needless to say they derive joy when interns are getting jobs within months of their internship after years or months of rejections.
To any innovator who is still sitting on the potential of their dreams Julius says “Start chasing your dream, You have all it takes. The perfect tomorrow will never come unless you start now!”
