Hello 👋 dear innovator,
April has been awesome 😎. From our record-breaking April fool's edition 😂 to celebrating AI creations, to acknowledging awesome African products and never getting over it. We are glad you are still with us for the ride🤠.
We realized that April weirdly has 5 Saturdays, but at least it is finally the end of the month and you know what it means. This final week na salary week, so we don use that one hold body.
Last week we discussed fintech startups created by Africans for Africans and this week, as we promised in our midweek check-in we are still rinsing it. U gerrit?
You might think that “Created by Africans for Africans Part 3” is a stretch, but from where I am sitting we have yet to scratch the surface of the innovation in Africa.
As a result… Yes, as we promised in our midweek check-in, we go again.
Not so fast ⏩. Keep calm and laugh 😂
So, to the business of the day…
Well, it will be a quick one so that we all as innovators can prepare in time for our well-deserved break on Monday ☺️.
Yes👍 it's Workers Day! And I interpret that to mean workers’ day off, so don't touch that laptop 💻!
Eden by Nayansar Enegesi
@ouredenlife aims to recreate the “Garden of Eden” experience for its users as the social media branding of Eden implies.
Even more humorously controversial is the “Eve from Eden" Twitter handle of Eden as it paints a picture in the mind of followers.
Anyone who has been to a church or anywhere a thousand miles near one knows the story of how Eve ate the forbidden fruit 🍎 in the Garden of Eden.
Now this is rib-tickling 😂😂. How could that same Eve or her namesake even feed you, also from a Garden 🏡 called Eden?
Eve is that you? 😅 Or is it because of the “apple” 🍎 you ate?
Feeding is not the only worry that Eden takes off the plate of its customers. A glance at the dashboard of the Eden app shows the heart of the company.
You can also schedule cleaning, get your laundry done, and gift your loved ones. Eden simply put is a tech-enabled service that puts its users’ chores on autopilot. It aims to “10x the quality of life”, and they believe that to do that they must make the good life accessible to all.
They have been quoted as saying “Chores, ugh. What are they good for? Absolutely nothing. We’ll do the chores, so you can do more with your life”. In other words, the aim is to help customers live the soft life.
Eden has successfully raised a $1.4 million seed round to deepen its market share. It is also only available in Nigeria and Kenya for now.
Nayansar Enegesi is the visionary CEO of Eden and co-founder of Andela. He founded Eden with Prosper Otemuyiwa and Silm Momoh in 2019. Together they built a platform that allows customers to schedule three home services — food, laundry, and cleaning — via a mobile application.
Eden is a lifestyle platform with a difference because it focuses on the betterment of the life of techies. While other platforms focus on payments and commerce, the team at Eden is satisfied with helping you worry less about time-consuming chores, to help you live a more productive life.
Hala Message by Marvin Uche
Hala is a platform that wants you to send money as easily as you chat with your friends. They want to make it easy to patronize your friends and favorite vendors.
With Hala it seems sending money does not have to involve opening a bank app, or even having your debit card. It is an instant messaging app, that lets you pay for whatever services the vendors offer, you could even send an offering to your church provided they are on the platform.
It works like any other social media platform, in helping you support your favorite creators. All you have to do is search for the vendor or creator’s user name on the Hala app and boom! 💥
If Millennials and Gen Z’s always have their faces on a screen, chatting with friends while trying to catch up with life in general, it only makes sense to insert your payment company in that gap. One of the easiest things to do on the internet is to chat, it’s almost as easy as breathing.
In the words of the CEO & Co-founder of Hala Marvin Uche, “We are building the easiest place to patronize anyone on the internet.”
Hala believes that we are all connected, and we should all be connected to the people we patronize every day.
